“Your first 50 right steps to enter the Russian food market”.
Step № 16 – “Taxes and duties in Russia”
As the main character of “Meet Joe Black” Hollywood movie said, there are only two things that one cannot escape – death and taxes. In Russia, the size of taxes varies every year. They may rise or fall. Therefore, I will tell you about general principles of taxation in Russia and give you examples of several taxes that are relevant now in 2019, the year when this book is published. So, when you start planning to enter the Russian food market and develop your business plan, be sure to check the current tax rates in Russia.
All taxes in Russia are divided into three main categories:
1. Federal taxes. They are set by the Russian Government and are payable throughout Russia by everyone who is subject to this tax.
2. Regional taxes. These taxes are set by regional authorities and should be paid only by those who reside in this region. Russia consists of 22 republics, 9 territories, 46 regions, 1 autonomous region, 4 autonomous districts and 3 cities of federal significance. A total of 85 regions.
3. Local taxes. These taxes are set by each separate city. There are about 1,113 cities in Russia.
